Lahore: After the wonderful history of 144 years the Government
college of Lahore was given the status of university. Then it was
renamed as government college university Lahore. GCU academics status was
also changed according to its new rules and its main aim was to promote
quality education to all. This educational institute is the oldest oldest
institute for the Muslim world that provide the traditional education
blended with the modern way to reach the standard set by the person like
philosopher Allama Iqbal and noble award winner Abdus salam. GC university
compiles of more than 300 highly skillful teachers out of which 133 had the
Ph.D. degrees. GCU has the strength of 6271 students. Students got the
admission in B.A. /B.S.C on the basis of their academic records. Foreign
students can also get the admission in the university but if recommended by
the government of Pakistan. GCU tuition fee is 1000 annual and its boarding
lodging fee is 700 annual. GCU all departments are well equipped with the
latest instruments and equipments needed for the research work. Centre for
advanced studies in physics has advanced labs, laser labs, material labs,
nano technology labs, computer labs, internet facility, multimedia, overhead
projectors, digital library, research labs and seminar rooms for the young
students. One of the services provides by the GCU is students counseling
services. All services offered by the GCU are confidential. The
university also provides career guidance placement centre to the
students to help them in making their career choices. The library of the
university is came into being in 1872.It can fulfill the requirements of
6000 students. The area covered by the library is 30803 sq.feet.The library
has the collection of 270,740 including precious personal collection. The
GC University Lahore has gymnasium, sports hall, tennis, cricket,
hockey, table tennis swimming and field’s events to make their students fit
as well. The university also has four hostels three for boys and one
for girls. |
