A frontier is a
political and geographical term use for the areas near or beyond a boundary
in case of Pakistan frontier is use for the North-West Frontier
Province (NWFP) is the smallest province of Pakistan. To its
northwest Afghanistan is located, to its northeast Northern Areas is
located, Azad Kashmir to the east, Federally Administered Tribal Areas
(FATA) to the west and south, and Punjab and Islamabad southeast. The mother
language is Pashto and the provincial capital is Peshawar. The population of
NWFP is 19,343,000 according to 2003 census out of which 52% are males and
48% females and the area is spread over 74,521 km˛.Main languages are
Pashto, Hindko, Khowar, Persian, Urdu.
NWFP is comprises of 24 Districts. The names of those districts are:-
Abbottabad, Bannu, Batagram, Buner, Charsadda, Chitral, Dera Ismail Khan,
Hangu, Haripur, Karak, Kohat, Kohistan, Lakki Marwat, Dir Lower, Malakand,
Mansehra, Mardan, Nowshera, Peshawar, Shangla, Swabi, Swat, Tank, Dir Upper.
The capital and largest city of the province is Peshawar. Other main cities
include Nowshera, Mardan, Mansehra, Charsadda, Ayubia, Nathia Gali and
Abbottabad. The province's main districts include Dera Ismail Khan, Kohat,
Bannu, Peshawar, Abbottabad and Mansehra, Swat, Kalam, Upper Dir, Naran and
Kaghan Swat-Kalam is known as Switzerland' because of its beauty and
attracts a great many tourists. |
