A child in addition to education, earns his livelihood as well, this act of earning a livelihood is called as child Labour.
The International Labour Organization (ILO) defines child Labour as:
"A child starts working in his early age"
Major factors responsible for child labour in Pakistan were:
- Large population with high population growth rate
- Almost 70% of the total population living in rural areas, with agricultural activities
- Low productivity and prevalence of poverty
- Discriminating social attitude towards girls and women
- Inadequate educational facilities
