Abdul Qadeer Khan was born on 1st April 1936 in Bhopal, India. One of the most popular scientist of the Pakistan as well as of the world. Dr. Khan was migrated from India to Pakistan in 1952 with his family. He obtained his education from various renowned institutions of the world. He obtained the degree of Bachelor of Science in 1960 from the University of Karachi from Pakistan, His major subject was physical metallurgy. He then obtained the degree of Master of Science (Technology) in 1967 from Delft University of Technology, from Netherlands. Doctor of Engineering degree in metallurgical engineering from the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium in 1972,in the same year he received his PhD degree and joined the staff of the Physical Dynamics Research Laboratory (FDO) in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. That supply enriched uranium for the European nuclear reactors. The technical details were taken by A Q Khan which were used later to develop his own nuclear weapons in Pakistan. In December 1975, He left the Netherlands and returned to Pakistan in 1976. In 1976, A.Q khan joint Pakistan's uranium enrichment program with the support of the then Prime Minister of Pakistan, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. Khan Research Laboratories established by him became the main point for developing a uranium enrichment capability for Pakistan's nuclear weapons and after that Pakistan progress a lot in defensive weapons and america claim that Pakistan (A.Q Khan) is providing the formulation of nuclear weapon to Korea due to this he was dismissed from KRL and he confess his sin and the Prime Minister pardon him later on and called him the HERO OF THE NATION. In 2006 he was diagnosed a cancer and undergo successful operation in Karachi and now Family sources said Dr Khan was probably suffering from infection and his health is under control. |
